I am impressed... just impressed!!! Voxel Section Editor 1.2 had as one of its main features, the Cubed Normalizer. Although the concept behind it was very interesting, the original results were flawed on voxels that were empty inside. Since almost everyone's voxels used 'Remove Redundant Voxels' feature (specially because of the old 6-faced normalizer), the cubed normalizer sucked on almost every test, originally. I've "sorted" the problem by distorting the operation a bit. But the results, weren't good yet.

Today I've been posting some ramblings on how would I solve this problem. I came with a solution quite fast and I've managed to test it.

The voxel below is called Mad Dog Mech. It was inspired on the Mad Dog from MechWarrior. Weeraby2k was the one who created this voxel ages ago and submitted it to YR Argentina.

I've tested my normalizer on it. Check the result:

Sweetness, isn't it? Expect a Voxel Section Editor III 1.2c soon.

I don't have much free time to code a mech on RA2 #Tongue, but I'm releasing this new version now, so you guys can use it and enjoy the results.

Does this eliminate the need for smoothing normals, then?

Banshee, do u have the source to the Cube Normalizer program? If so it would be good if u could modify it to use ur normalizer routine. The Batch part of it would be good (especialy if ppl are gona use it on every voxel they have in there mod).

Possibly yes, unless you want them even more smoothed...

I'm not sure, Stu. I have a copy of the instalation here, but I don't know if the instalation comes with the source. I was thinking about leaving an option at VXLSE III to normalize and remove redundant normals on all sections...

"I was thinking about leaving an option at VXLSE III to normalize and remove redundant normals on all sections... "

And u can. the Cube Normalizer was designed only because someone asked me or gave me the idea to make a batched version since it was annoying to use VXLSE III to do it one by one.

I don't have the source on this pc and no clue if its in the installer.

I've found the source here and I'll do an update on it.
