Tutorial: a lovely sparkly shiny ice crystal.
The steps to creating a cool ice crystal.
1. create a new image, i used one 300*300 and fill it with black.
2. In the filters menu go to render --> lens flare and create a lens flare in the center of the image making sure that the glow from it is just smaller than the image itself.
3. Back to the filters menu, go to artistic --> fresco and use whatever values you like, they shouldn't affect it too much.
4. IN the filters menu again, this time in stylise --> extrude and use the values pyramids, size 30, and random depth of 255.
5. By now you should have the basic crystal shape, go to the menu and in image --> adjustments --> hue/saturation and use the values of hue=194 saturation=100 and lightness=0
6. You now have a blue ice crystal, rotate your image 90 degrees CCW from the image menu --> rotate canvas 90 CCW.
7. Go to filter --> stylize --> wind and make the wind come from the left.
8. Do this until you are happy and then rotate it back 90 degrees CW.
9. Create a new layer and fill it white, this layer should be above the crystal layer, use the soft light option to give your crystal less of a blue color and more of an ice color.
10. Merge both the layers together in the layer --> merge visible menu.
11. In filter --> render --> lens flare again create a couple of new lens flares using the 105mm prime option, place them wherever you like but on the tips of the crystal spikes is effective, then reduce the brightness down until you are happy.
12. Get out your paintbrush (dont say it Silent Bob) and choose a different brush type in the top menu, if you find the leaves and grass brushs then look just before them you will see the sparkle brushes, choose the smallest sparkle (should be size 14) and begin createing sparkles on some of the icicle's (make sure your paint color is pure white).
13. You may find that you have to click multiple times on a certain place to get an effective sparkle.
14. Do this in a few places until you are happy with it, then select text, choose your favourite font and stick your name on top.
Your done, and you should have something that looks like the one below, if not then either you have done something wrong or i have missed something out so come back and tell me and i'll try to help.
Ok, atm I don't have Photoshop installed, I'll have to wait till I reformat, which will be in the summer, to try this out, but it sounds cool. Is it simple enough to figure out how to do it on text too, using this tutorial? _________________ Over and out,
