Subject description: New year, new version

Motivated by my upcoming free time, I have decided to take some time and recode the AI Editor. I know AI E V2 has several glitches and shortcomings, but I think you guys can give me much more ideas than what I alone would be able to come up with. So, let's hear them. Anything goes, bug fixes, new features, new interface (this one is important, I was never really satisfied with the current one), etc.

Yes, I know the biggest wish is RP/ETS compatibility. It will be there.

Yeah, like you decide what the team should do and when to be created, and the generator creates the teamtype,trigger and script upon your decisions, eg.

i want a taskforce of 5 prism tanks to attack the enemy warfactory then attack anything, it creates the trigger with recomended settings and script and teamtype, etc, eg. prism tank needs allied battle lab to be created, the generator make the trigger with GATECH as trigger object etc, if you get what i mean. makes the trigger based upon the rules.ini file.

Edit: sorry for bump, didnt see.

What I don't get is why you guys want the PC to generate the AI. When the PC generates ini coding for rules, art, etc, you (and I) scream "wtf tibed lolz noob" and handcraft our code, but when the same is done for AI, everyone is happy with it. Why? I don't want the program to come up with the AI for me, I don't even use the editor and write stuff in editpad, because that way I know what's going on, I can go and tweak stuff easily, and test out new ideas quickly. A hundred mods all using the same generated AI would give the player a hundred nearly identical AIs, which would get boring very quickly. The AI needs a human to write it, no way around it.

Why the hell would you write a program if you wouldn't use it yourself?

I'm not asking why you wouldn't use it, I'm asking why you would write it.

i understand your point but making the pc generate ai codes for you will make it even faster to make a complete ai, and you can still edit them by hand after you have generated them, but for a basic trigger. like you generate a pretty basic and template trigger and then you edit it by hand like you want it to behave, and for making them unique and advanced.

Also i have a Questing regarding the AI Editor by DCoder since we use that program to "rebuild" our AI, and when saving, the aimd.ini file gets disordered (list gets on the bottom of the file, and new teamtypes, taskforces, etc gets below the triggers above the lists) also the rulesmd.ini gets what i think compressed, deleting all comments and such things. So is there any option to disable this or fix it?

No, not yet. [The thread asking for wanted changes(Link)] has been up for almost a year already, though...

DCoder ? is there going to be a automatic nameing AIteams Naming thing in the new V2 AI. EG:
[ENG] = (Name=engineer)
etc.

this whould be handy it whould be a tiny change.

but i think it whould help typing out team types all the time, if you didn't want it, you could untick the box and you can type in manauly the name of the team type.

good idea ?.
