well, I have one in .shp format....why not use it?

It could be used as a like russian police guy, or if the russians are suppose to be devastated by war, the horse could be a cheap alternative to the motor.

In CIV 3 I smashed some opponent's tanks with that guy:

It could be used as a like russian police guy, or if the russians are suppose to be devastated by war, the warrior could be a cheap alternative to the horse.

Seriously, how could an horse be usefull in a battlefield ? Apart for being food for the soldier who killed it.

Yep, a batallion charged a panzer platoon....

I won't use them as buildable units, just for parades and maybe as russian "police" units.

Still,russian police?What the hell,its Soviet Union.

We talk about militia, not police.THAT is how it happened in the east.

Plus,I don't think that this is possible to be seen in Soviet Union,I mean, they were total anti-imperialists,I can't imagine seeing this,to be honest.

I was thinking about parade stuff (like we have the horse guard for ceremonies outside buckingham palace but take light tanks when they go to war) or mounted police.

Do you see horses parading in Russia? They use tanks and infantry, but not horses. Remember, this ain't England we're talking about now...

Stalin's gone, he dies in the rubble of Moscow. Tte mod is 70's/80's, assuming it takes the world 20 years to get over a world war (1918-1939) This would leave the world ready to fight the first tiberium war and let me have a balance of technology and some retro.

If you have 50's infantry though... I'll take them gladly #Tongue

Erm I think a horse unit WOULD be good for parades etc, would be pretty damn cool... and yeah, this Soviet Union can be pretty much anything, especially after the death of Stalin.

And as we (we as the mod team) want to make the mod realistic (realistic meaning more RA1 style instead of RA2), horses won't fit Wink Where there horses in RA1? No.
Also, I think this is more of a discussion for in the staff area...

Yeah, I see where you're going, it has to retain some aspects for continuity but apart from that...
Anyways, rats said something a little while ago,
"TD Brought us the battlefield, TS was supposed to bring us the world around it"
I Intend to bring the battlefield, the world around it, and a little more detail inside of it. I just need Ares/RP2 for some of it, no I'm not doing cratering and TW style support powers, although I do dislike the "Point and stuff dies" approach of RA2's traditional armoury.

Dafool? If you've got it ready please PM it to me, thanks.
Dutchy, it will be in as a "civ" unit people can script in and such.

Hey guys, add the guys on horses for some covert operation for the Soviet missions.

Remember those american Spec.Ops. in Afghanistan back in the days? They were painting targets for airstrikes on the back of horses...

Horses don't need fuel, no spare parts, don't make a lot of noise, and they only need grass and water.
(And Firefly-nerds must have noticed that too.)

The Mujihadeen used horses and they beat the russians, maybe they would be useful for those "KILL THE VILLAGERSSS!!!!1!!11!!1!" missions, they'd be faster and have a longer line of sight than normal infantry, they'd be more vulnerable to gunfire but hell, if a horse stamps on you you die. right? Why not make them weak vehicles? It might work quite well for campaign missions.

Given the fact we're talking about RA-Russians, you should give the horses some armour...

No one takes down a Horseman of Stalin with some light weaponry...

Stalin is dead, and horses can't carry enough armour to stop modern weaponry anyways.

Chrono suits dont exist Laughing Muahaha!!! They were made up and now they've been un-made up #Tongue

And I don't know if the chronosphere/iron curtain will be making a return in MV, it's likely but I don't know how to make them "disappear" at the end... :S

For some reason I thought this mod was taking place around world war 1, when horses were used to some extent....

But a horseman in modern times would be either a police officer or in a parade.

But in the game, since units don't die from 1 bullet, the reason horses became obsolete (ie they died easily and could not hide), is technically aleived. But w/e, it's your mod, I'm just trying to hand out my units.

The Iron Curtain technology disappearing might be more related to a simple game of pro's/con's.

Allies/Special Ops 9/GDI/Nod have different ideas about combat than the Russians.

Besides, the Iron Curtain technology gets back in TS/FS/TW with the Firestorm Defense.

Do any of you know what it's like to face a man on a horse, whne you're on your feet? Mounted policemen are the biggest threat to any protest. So, if you have any missions with civil unrest, then hell yes, put the cossack in. If not, no.

or plot twist. After the communist revolution, The bolshevik (spelling) outlawed the cossacks (who were allied with the Tzar) as a privledged class. So the cossacks now hate the Communist goverment. When the Soviets go to war with the allies, the cossacks become rebels and fight with the allies. They ride horses because they have been denied access to more modern technology.

Or they can just be riot police...

No really, use them as Soviet counter-muddjahedin things and give them the Boris Mig-laser.

Together with a APC filled with infantry.

One of the first missions. Rooting out some beardies with their capitalistic CIA friends.

Riot police at most. Despite being quite fierce to unarmed civilians, you do realise it's very easy to kill a mounted person with even a bottle or rock, thworn the correct way?
