It's just light APC (Russians have even medium ones from T-55 and T-72), but still fits as much as wheeled APC or even more a bit (RA USSR has to be steamroller). Rolling Eyes

Its more than obvious the intent of the original Westwood RA series was to parallel the Soviets to the WWII Germans; the concept of superior technology (Iron Curtain, Nuclear Missile, Heavy Tank, V2, SAM Site, Mammoth Tank, MiG Fighter, Missile Submarine, Volkov, Shock Trooper, Tesla Coil, Tesla Tank) awhile the Allies were the WWII Allies; inferior technology (Medium Tank, Light Tank, Artillery, Flak AA, Jeeps) with a largely superior navy, tactics focusing not on the use of powerful, slow vehicles, but using faster and weaker vehicles to flank and overrun. (it can be assumed that the Allied airforce is completely dominated by the Soviet Yak and MiG Fighters in RA, however- one key difference)

The Allies have experimental technologies of course, but unlike the Soviet technology, it is designed in desperation; "wonder weapons" to turn the tide of the war.

Lastly, must you complain about the USSR in every post you make? Simple yes/no, no need for a 50 page response.

As for the pictures themselves, they look nice, although I see an off-palette S_CLSN42 explosion. #Tongue

EDIT- I'm with Aro on the possibility of using this screenshot concept. *ducks* #Tongue

Don't try imitate my famous saying if you can't do it right! Anyway, keep up the good work Josh, I'm actually looking forward to playing this.

Imitation is a form of compliment =D I'm ok with it, just put these in the next mod news (choose 1 or 2) and give me a few words of recognition in your TI thred Wink

EVA, you were right to duck! *opens fore with a drum-fed MG36 towards EVA* Yeah, the allies are still ighter, but have better tech in one or two areas, the soviets still have their famous directed energy and heavy weapons, but the allies have closed a few gaps, their highest tier tank is about as heavy as a heavy, but faster and costlier. THe reds do still have their vaunted SSMs and subs too...

The allies can now contest the air, MiG fighters squaring up to privateer interceptors escortng A10s and Yak support jets competing with tactical bmbers in air support.

*smiles, removing the ammo drum and revealing blank cartridges* #Tongue

Feel free, but don't balls it up and call a platoon a division, companies and regiments are about the right size for this kinda thing.

I don't want to argue, just one detail:
Quote:
the WWII Allies

Allies from RA1 had some things from WWII era, but many of them are from late 1960's (the War In Vietnam) or even later - medium tank similar to Abrams, light tank which looks even like Bradley (!) (I know it's influence of TD, APB use Patton tank), M113 APC, ranger, arty, M4 Assault Rifle (in videos, even with grenadethrowers)...

But when I compare them with Soviet tech, they look inferior...

This render shows the RA1 Light Tank- through some research and use of google, I came to the conclusion it was either and M48 or a M41 Walker Bulldog. It can't be a Bradley just on the virtue of its lower profile and lack of track skirts. (and the bloody APB team stuck with using the M24 Chaffee for the new light tank, talk about inferior tech!)

Odd you would say they are inferior, I see the Soviets of RA1 as the superior technology side. Success in directed energy weapons, dual barreled vehicle weapons, advanced jet-fighter technology, cybernetics, super-heavy tank designs, nuclear weapons, kinetic energy barriers. And don't forget the pioneering of Sea-to-Surface, Surface-to-Surface ballistic missiles and use of seismic waves as a weapon.

But this is way off-topic and Lt Albrecht will likely bite my head off if I continue. (although there will be consequences in APB if he does this. :>)

As I only play APB on maps where EVA's superiour rifle marksmanship (standard rifle...) is less of an issue I'll tell him not to take this too far, but split this as it has interesting implications and backstory for the mod. If he wants to hold this subject in future or finds a topic drifting towards it I'd appreciate it if he MSN/PM'd me to tell me so I could split/reassign it.

As 'tis this is being split into a thread called "RA1, tech and effect on MV".

I meant Allieds seems to be looking inferior in this way.

With that light tank: cameo contains TD Bradley,
videos contain something else

and it's hard to say what tank is it from in-game pictures.
