I've checked your shp and when you made init 0306.pcx, you changed the size... I mean, all frames should be in 86 x 86 (in this case). If you have pictures in different size, XCC won't compile it.

so if they're all the same size, then how do you compile them in XCC?

you make it sound simple, but what this about the palette?

good point,.. you forgot the pallete too. It's not a hard process, it's a tedious and boring process which is a but different than hard Wink.

I'm attaching the unittem.pal for RA2 which is the pallete you should use (for PSP,Photoshop).

JASC is the software industry that produces Paint Shop Pro. Anyway, which program did you used to make it?

you can convert palletes using XCC MIxer too.. make sure all the frames is in 8 bit and the same size, and see that Use For Conversion is ticked and Select unitsno for the pallete and convert to .shp Smile it's done...

use Irfanview it's freeware.

It uses the same kind of palette as PSP.

i know, but even if I fix the size of the frames, how do I get it to 8-bit? its at 24-bit now because i use paint to edit the images.

i've tried using XCC before, but i just cant get it to work.

i dont have PSP or JASC, but i have Ifranview. Whats about the palettes now?

I should add this to my FAQ page...

once you have the image open in Irfanview that you want to apply the palette to, open image --> palette --> import palette and then you will find wherever you put the palette.

If you need the palette from the game files, then in XCC Mixer go to file --> found --> Red Alert 2 --> ra2.mix --> cache.mix, then right click on whichever palette you want and select "Copy as PAL (JASC)". Not all of the palettes are in cache.mix, so you may need to look in other mix files.

you need to set XCC Mixer to the correct palette.

Did you make all frames 86x86?
