Concept for Hammer Tank Leach Weapon Upgrades.

When playing RA3 I noticed that the Hammer Tank can have more than the 3 different 2nd weapons I knew, It is difficult to code in unit the right weapon upgrade, so here's what I came up with: Hammer Tank kills target with Leach Beam(special Death type) target spawns a "Upgrader"(OCL object) on death, Hammer Tank goes inside, button is pressed, and a small secondary turret is spawned inside the Hammer Tank by OverlordContain and FireOCL.

However I don't know whether this is such a good idea, a "salvage improved Hammer Tank" might get to strong really easily. For instance when it would gain a Nuke Cannon as second Weapon.

There arnt any Nuke Cannons in IC so I dont see how that would be a problem.

Nuke Cannon was an example, in RA3 when a Hammer Tank Leaches artillery it becomes extremely powerful, so Nuke cannon could be read as Athena Cannon or Wave Force Artillery.

Well couldnt the weapon damage be simply reduced for when its "captured"?

Regarding the poll I do think it should be able to steal weapons from as many units as possible. Adds a lot of interest and shows how deep the mod really is. #Tongue

That feature on the Hammer Tank was one of the things that I think gave the soviets some power, to kinda balance out the wimpy Apocalypse cop-out...

Seriously, it was like an improved version of what the Avatar mech could do in TW. I would love if it could speed up the process when it comes to your own vehicles, when preparing a specialized force... but that's just me.

Hmm, I can see several ways of this working out (wasn't there already a leech beam thread here?).

One is the easy was which would just to upgrade the hammer tank with generic weapons when he gets upgraded or picks up thos gla crate things, and upgrade the turret accordingly. So you'd begin with say a machine gun, then maybe a second barrel and finally an apoc sized cannon or tesla coil thing.

The other method would be to have units spawn certain crates when they have a death by a certain type of damage, and that damage being held exculsivly by the leech beam. So the OCL will upgrade the tank with a certain weapon (and maybe some health). We'd have to figure out the specifics of this, but I think ti could be done.

My method as described would allow infinite different second weapons to choose from, so that's not a problem, I didn't see another Leach Beam thread, but maybe I just missed it.
