Dress warm comrade! Here's a russian dude with a sash, a russian hat, and most dissapointingly, just a plain old rilfe. (no ak-47). Well, it took me 20 minutes to convert so I guess I can't complain.

funny story, in 8th grade health class, we watched a video on skitzofrenia. So the guy who had was suppoe to be your average american dad, but he became skitzo, and he ran around thinking everyone was a russian spy. He went up to his kid at one point and was like "Is that a RUSSIAN HAT!?!" It was a classic line that year.

Everyone who wears the LP on a head, is Russian soldier.
#Tongue

Reminds me one episode of the IT Crowd - moment after Jen said "It's too ... soviet, here." Laughing

Well it seems that trooper has red star on his fur hat, but maybe it was just mistake, but when you use LP cap, he would be on 95% Soviet or Russian.

I think this guy can be also hunter.Wink

LP = long playing (gramophone plate)

I'm sorry to say it, but there aren't any special russian units like there are american and german (bazooka, flamethrower, and hmg). This and a cossack are the only russian troops (besides vehicles) that there are. But hey, it's better than nothing.

Next up, British rifleman.

He's lucky; all that Soviet riflemen got in WWII were a tunic, belt, boots, rifle, and a focage cap.

Sometimes they had to share a rifle and one mag between two (Stalingrad). Seriously!

Yeah, Stalingrad was a clusterfuck of epic proportions. Not that it didn't suit the Soviets. A hundred thousand soldiers meant nothing to them. Almost like the Iranian human wave tactic.

I've read books. And yeah, unlike a lot of people I know, I don't trust Call of Duty as much as a textbook.

The soviets didn't act as stupid as history records, in fact they were the clever ones for once! The kept the germans rolling into the city then cut them off.

Those bullet casings are massive! Of course I'm Russian(mostly Ukraine though), why do you think I own one of those hats. Everyone gives me odd looks when I wear it in public though >.>

Oh and, DaFool, that reminds me. Just today when I was wearing the damn thing the first comment I got in my computer club(yes-- no I'm not that nerdy, just only place in school without Nazi-quality internet blocks) was "that's a Russian hat". If I lived closer to Alaska they'd probably not care if I wore such things.

BTW, soviet men had usually other options - like mining in gold mine.
Still better than getting shot to the back. Wink
With that hut, it has been used here pretty much during winter in the past (+ it was cold period during WW2 till 1960's). Today it's not in the fashion + pretty much people here hate Russians for the invasion in 1968 and occupation which followed till the collapse of the empire, most of those guys were around 20 (+-2years) and thought they are keeping peace, didn't know nothing or didn't know where are they going, they were just on military duty. Even though sometimes I see guy wearing fur hat, but it's usually shaped differently (Alaskian (well some Russians settlers remained there) or Canadian style) and colour is usually dark grey.
But cap in the avatar of Bako'Ikaporamee has been weared in Soviet Russia and several years after Soviet Russia which means in early Soviet Union during NEP (1920's). Brown was military, white police, I think (maybe the colour didn't matter). One day police has blue uniform (Ukrainian "Mints" or militia), another black (elite classes like SWAT (C-Ts) and "hoplite" all the time), another khaki (during former regime - cars were yellow and white, Slovakian). Modern army doesn't change uniform colours (just details like camo instead of one colour, digital camo, chameleon camo in the future (well, the SHP would be easy #Tongue)). Uniform of that British trooper has been used during WW2 in the Africa, but it was used in WW1, too. As I said, this Fur Hat (Russian) Rifleman can be used as (bear) hunter.

whats next? Well, I got

Doughboy
WW2 Paratrooper
German Flamethrower
American HMG
Modern Worker

and thats it. No more modern infantry can be squezed from the game. There is of course vehicles, boats, terrain, dinosaurs, and various infantry from the past (nothing mroe advanced than a musket). So thats whats next. A handful of stuff and it's over.

I'd like some fan made WW2 stuff if possible. It only takes you 20min but it took me half a day to do just one.

Well, I have some utility which can convert the model from Civ3*,
but the position is screwed, texture is screwed totally. Those vehicles are better as VXL (but filled, which is extra work, unless there's some easier way to fill it, I know only 2: 1st: make more objects inside of the converted object, 2nd: fill converted voxel (normals must be done manually to not lose original normals)).
*Civilization Fanatics forum is full of new fan models

I'm really sorry for bumping this, but all these units (and their shadows) look kinda transparent in-game. Can that be fixed in art.ini or is this the SHP's problem?

To give them RA2 style shadows? There should be a script in SHP builder to convert TS style (transparent) shadows to RA2 style.

Thanks, that did the trick. The shadows are a bit big, but thats not a problem.
