Alright, I cleaned up this thread, and will try to keep things neat.

I have some experiance with modeling, its always been textures where I fell short.
anyways, I'll be posting some of my work here, and try to keep it all in one thread.
----------------------------------

Ironclad
Poly Count: 312

Steam Boat
Poly Count: 607

Steam Tank
Poly Count: 190

Airship
Poly Count: 448

God's Hammer
Poly Count: 999

---------------------------

I'm still trying to learn how to make low poly models, I'm finding its actualy harder to model when you have to budget polys.

anyways, enjoy.

You should try making more detailed models, would go great on those two models, they've got potential, especially the battleship #Tongue

Steampunk battleship sounds cool to me :3

Wheels in treads are usually handled with a flat surface and a texture, which saves you polies for other details. That steamship is also quite...large.

yea, I took the idea for the airship from the Highwind in FFVII, the design looks like it could really work.

As for the cannon, I had thought about making a giant cannon for some time, originaly for a TS mod i was thinking of, I thought it would be awesome to have a massive battle under a massive cannon that dominates the skyline, but i had forgotten about the idea until a few weeks ago when I was playing FFVII and saw Sister Ray (a.k.a. the Mako Cannon).
but that is where I got the idea of putting it on a cliffside, my original idea was it would be on a massive turn-table.

EDIT: did some work on the cannon, added more detail.
but its still just not looking steampunkish, looks more like a massive railgun.

You have good poly counts there. My average is around 450, and thats for normal units like tanks.

You have inspired me to do an airship.....

I remade God's Hammer, it doesn't look like a rail gun no more.

but now worldbuilder is telling me that the gun is to large, lol , and freezes when I place it down. so I'll have to cut it into pieces or something.

I like the idea of using civil war-like ironclad steam ships, I haven't seen anyone use that theme before.
(besides steampunk itself)

are those polycounts triangleized or no? 1000 polies isn't bad at all, but a 1000 faces trainglized could poentially be many times that number. Your style is defiantly interesting though!

I just took a look, God's Hammer has 2048 faces.
looks, like I'll need to rework a few things.

as for my "style" I am using solid colors, because 1) I hate UV mapping in Gmax, and 2) I'm really bad at making textures.
plus it gives things that kind of early 3D games look.
