Was just having a random chat with Joshy about game modes, when we come into the discussion of AI houses in skirmish. Now first off i removed all houses to allow a "sandbox" like experience, good for testing i suppose, the second was to see how many AI houses the game can allocate into one skirmish session.

Some of you might remember back some years when VK did this too, but he only posted one screenshot and nothing more was said. I intend to complete this feature, and so far i have got the game to allow 10 AI houses, and of course the human house being me, makes 11 houses in a skirmish game.

There is a bug where the 10th and 11th house are shown though the shroud, this is something im looking, also note that the starting locations are royally messed up...

very nice, im looking forward to having such games Very Happy
As for starting locations, i take its to do with the map simply not having enough spaces? (in which case you have bypassed the to many players warning, since if thats the map i think it is it can only hold 4)

LAN mode allows AI players to go beyond the map player limits, allowing you to set up matches like 2 humans vs. 6 AI on a 4 player map. Now what if on an 8 player map there were 8 human players in addition to those 6 AI? 14 players in total? Has anyone ever tried it?

Ah, i knew that RA logic (of randomly assigning locations when there isn't enough waypoints) existed in TS in some form, but i recalled the errors in skirmish

I've tried making all starting locations on a map random before, but the problem with that was that players would then start right beside one another (as in with not a single cell in between). If only it'd make sure there's always a minimal distance between players, random starting locations could be ideal for some maps...

Huh? So LAN mode allows you to have more than 7 AI houses? Explain more...

Also, Sandbox mode too, so you can playtest a scenario without the AI!

That's just a bug that allows exceeding the limit set in the map then. That's still just 8 players in that case; I doubt that'll allow exceeding the actual maximum of 8.

I remember having 3 human players and 6 AIs once while setting up a match, and the game gave all three of us an IE while loading the map.
