Hello people. This topic is for a StarCraft Brood War campaign I'm beginning work on. The campaign will take place during the Terran Campaign of the Original StarCraft, and may even use some of the actual maps either before or after the event that is using them.

Now, this campaign is called "The Sonic Wolves". Why is it called such? Well, it revolves around a Wraith pilot named Derek Velpove. As one of the main characters, he is vital to the story of how the Sonic Wolves formed to become a mercenary group that excels at what they do, but following their beliefs.

This campaign covers the story from when the 31st Wraith Squadron was formed just before the incineration of Chau Sara, to their employment in the Sons of Korhal, to their mercenary style work of today during the time of StarCraft II.

I'm doing this campaign on SC:BW because I feel it will cover their journey a lot better, then move onto SC2 once I understand the data editor more.

Now then... Onto the Campaign itself...

This is a story, of the rise of the best Wraith Squadron around. This Squadron is known as the 31st Wraith Squadron, otherwise known now as the Sonic Wolves. This group of Mercinaries was first brought together before Chau Sara's incineration by the Protoss fleet. The Squadron formed under the command of Captain Derek Velpove, who is the leader of the Squadron since it's formation in the Terran Confederacy of Man. As the squadron met for the first time on the Confederate Flagship 'Dreadnaught', they knew they'd be in for a long ride after they were given their Wraiths and put into orbit around Mar Sara. Now, they begin to question their leaders, wondering if the 'promised' Dropships would arrive to Mar Sara as they flew patrol over the major civilian holding areas in the Wilderness of Mar Sara.

Cast of Characters

The cast of characters will be Major characters first, followed by Minor.


Derek Velpove (Major)
Age - 28
Weight - 215 Lbs
Height - 5 Feet, 11 Inches
Eye Color - Blue
Affiliations - Terran Confederacy of Man, Sons of Korhal, Sonic Wolves
Ship of Preference - CF/A-7 Wraith
Weapon Out of Ship: 8mm C-14 "Impaler" Gauss Rifle, 25mm C-10 Canister Rifle
Trained In: Flying, Scouting

Derek Velpove started as a cadet in the Confederacy. As one of the few that didn't need to be 'Resocialized' and placed on a Stim Pack prescription, he was able to learn quite quickly the ways of piloting a Wraith, Dropship, and was offered once to be a student under an Admiral for control of a Battlecruiser. He was also trained in the basic disciplin of the marines, and even learned how to scout with a Ghost's Canister Rifle.

As soon as he had his Pilot's Certification, he was assigned to Dropship duty. And then, after a few months, was given the position of Wraith pilot to escort the Dropships. It would be about three years down the road when he had to report to duty on the Confederate flagship known as the Dreadnaught. With the Wraiths stashed in the hold of the ship, as well as a couple of dropships, the Dreadnaught with a few other Battlecruisers would set course for the fringe world Chau Sara. There, Derek's squad was assigned to an installation, to stand guard and as security for the place as data was carefully stored into it's systems from other installations. It would be two years before the reports began rising about Xenomorphs in the wilderness... After a few months, it had turned for the worse... this is where his story begins.


Adjutant (Minor/Major)
The Adjutant... All commanders have one. No need to explain these.

Admiral Gerald Seviski (Minor)
The guy in charge of the flagship Dreadnaught. He died when the ship went down over Antiga Prime.

Planets (in Order of Appearance in the campaign)
Chau Sara - Small fringe world, in the Sara System. A protoss fleet incinerated it when the Zerg Swarm grew out of control on it's surface.
Mar Sara - Sister planet to Chau Sara in the Sara System. Though mostly looking like a desert, it too has it's Zerg problems and a population awaiting evacuation.

Missions

Each Mission will be linked to the post that holds the mission attachment. Please note that I have password protected the map files to make it almost impossible to edit them. Also, each mission will have a preview of JUST the terrain and the starting position. I will not have any units shown, for fear of it telling the player what is where aside from any resource nodes.


00 - Emergency Action - Installation I-13 is on the edge of advancing Xenomorph Activity... Velpove's Squad must beat back the advance elements of the Xenomorphs to allow the installation to be evacuated safely.

There is no Starcraft 1 forum and since it is not at all active I would encourage any related Stacraft editing posts to be made here. It should really be opened up to both games.

I'm not going to fight about it, but I do agree with Omegabolt about the SC related stuff in the SC modding forum c.c

Anyways, I'm still working on the second mission, so it'll be some time. Layout is the main problem, and I think I got a good layout made now for an evacuating map style.

The map seems to be a bit lacking in terrain features, in my opinion.

It's more of an introductory mission of sorts... As a quick mission really that introduces the main character of the campaign. I'm making a copy of the map for SC2 using a SC2 -> SC1 mod I found, in which the map itself will be drastically more detailed.

Sorry, I didn't quite get it: you're going to switch to SC2 and continue your campaign there, with the SC2 engine but in a SC1 setting? I think that would be awesome, although I don't have SC2.

Mainly for the features and the fact that my mapping is better (in my opinion) on SC2. I've found a possible mod to use for the setting, but it's just going to be very time consuming.
