Name: Kalistia Crestland
Map Maker: Ixith
Map Size: 90x60
Players: 2
Theatre: Tundra/Snowy
Info: This map is a small 2 player map. The area is populated with little villages to torture for amusement. Various triggers have been added into the map that may be found appealing. Build space and tiberium amounts should be plentiful. Tiberium has also been edited so that the blue tiberium will spawn from one kind of the normal tiberium trees and a few of these trees have been placed on the map. This appears to be my 34th map...so enjoy! Wink

Added Story: Kalistia is located in the north of the Holixe region. The people in the crestland enjoy hunting and logging, however they are quite timid. Many have already evacuated after the initial exposure to tiberium. The rest remain hoping that the forces of GDI and Nod do not battle over the tiberium resources that are generating in their land.

Also the release of this map falls on Westwood's 26th birthday. So in honor of that...it's getting released.

** a small section of the mega got cut off by accident on the right side but not very much. also a few small edits have been made since the making of the mega**

The link to the megamap is broken with an additional quote character in the end.

The map itself is excellent as always, the only thing that I find disturbing is the lack of light on the two blue tiberium fields at top.

I'm still waiting for your larger maps though Wink You appear to be releasing only two-player maps nowadays.

I never found much interest in making tiberium/ore/etc glow at all, but it really at some live to the map.

Its looking awesome, that light is really cool. Very Happy

It's probably fun to play, but the lighting ruins it, especially when you see anything with unitsno.pal on it.

-Fixed megamap link...i just copy/pasted from tibweb lol
-i might go in and throw in the blue light posts for those real fast but i won't update the mega if i do
-Thing is i've had several of these small 2 players pretty much finished for awhile now. The larger maps are slowly progressing still though.

I toyed with that for quite awhile one of the last times i was working on this map with the lighting. I tried adjusting the ambient and color values but to no avail and i still added in the Extra Lighting values coding but it didn't do much on this map like it does for other maps. The lighting for snow maps is just harder in general to do. It doesn't cooperate as well concerning the unitsno.pal and blockiness with the leveling. I felt it wasn't horrible enough to delay release though.

I'm not fond of snow maps, but I like this one.

LOL all I saw was the title of the map, and I knew it was yours right away. It's good to see you're keeping the TS map section alive!
Spotlight votes? you've got mine

gotta love my map names right?
doubt spotlighting will happen. map section isn't alive enough for anyone to give a damn. besides i think the spotlighting has gone away here anyways. and...i don't think anyones even played it to give it an ingame review that'd help it's chances.

but no matter. more to come to resurrect this section again once it dies down and once i find the desire to finish one or two other maps.

Spotlighting still exists, but people have to play it and review it properly. Reviews based in the name only won't help it. Wink

Yes, this is a bump. But I've seen this map was in need of a detailed review, and I've had this map for months but haven't really done much with it till now. Besides, I recall promising a review for this over at TibWeb.

Anyway, I played this in Firestorm on Tech 10 as Nod. I started on the right side. The AI effectively attacked me from the bottom-left portion of my base. I ended up building another base in the northern section in the middle of the civilian village. Once again, I like your common evacuation and scrooge text triggers. Lol, I know it's an Ixith map when I see overuse of the line SCROOGE! #Tongue I ended up harvesting all the tiberium, built up multiple forces, and crushed them.

Design: 9/10 - you could attack from either the left or right, or attempt a sneak attack from the top corners. Better yet, you could overrun a player by attacking from both sides. I must admit there could've been just a tad more build space. And maybe a little more land below the bases so you could have another sneak attack from the bottom of the bases.

Lighting: 8/10 - I liked it but, especially during the day, the light seemed a tad bright in certain areas (building lightning in the village, tiberium patches, etc).

Gameplay: 9/10 - well, when I review, I would say that huge description above is my gameplay review. There was a lot of gameplay possibilities due to the design. It seems like a fair map for online play.

Triggers: 8/10 - your usual use of triggers. Nothing too special. Some evacuation triggers, moving vehicles, etc.

Overall: 8.5/10 - this was a nice map. I will say, spotlight for this one too. And normally, I don't add scoring with reviews, because we all know, there's always room for improvement Smile

I am so digging this map. @Ixith Everything from thanks to respect and gratitude and praise and what not. This map is so going into my mod files.
Judging from the preview pic so far I wouldn't have minded having that included with the big map pack.

The map pack was years back, so this is too new to be in it. But I'm sure it probably would've been one of many newer ones to make it in.
