Diaspora* anyone? :)

How ur doin fellas?

Wanted to know what my fellow modders think about the new (or not so new) Diaspora* project. I think its a really good thing, and after all, the first true opensource solution to social networking. I have to admit, I still use facebook, but much less, in fact now very rarely, since I opened my D* account. The only reason I still keep it is because I have a number of contacts that I don't want to loose. Otherwise, D* got me hooked.

Whats ur take on D*?

D* is also planning to implement a page option soon (similar to fb and g+ pages), so, wouldn't it be a cool idea for PPM to have its D* page?

Pretty sure we don't need this for anything, considering that the community is close-knit enough to find ways to communicate one way or another.

you actually never know when your private info, or any other info, on those known social networks could get into wrong hands. we had that more than once with lamebook.
why is it a good thing? because its the first opensource social network. no profit. no responsibility, in fact, even you can run your own D* node. you just download the software and set it up.
well, i see that fellas don't really care that much, and I also don't want to sound like a D* agent. all I'm sayin is that opensource networks is the way to go.

Facebook is pain enough as it is for me. I grown bored of using it/it changing all the time. I doubt I'll switch to another one...

The name is rather questionable I'd say.. considering the term is most commonly used to refer to involuntary mass migrations such as the expulsion of Jews or Africans from their countries of origin :/

I don't use any of the normal social networks, I'm waiting for D* to become viable.
Will probably set up my own node (or whatever their term is these days...pod?) when the time comes.
