TI(beta3) online problems, please help!
Subject description: Tried several times; see other player but we could not join each others games.
Hi Guys, first off I want to shout out big thanks to Aro&Team for making TI such a flashy mod
Unfortunately,we have some problems with the online play (via cncnet).
The problem is, that the two of us can see each other in the online game lobby, but we cannot see the games that we create. Until the one, who has created the game goes to the map selection screen or to desktop (with ALT+TAB). But the other player who joins then cannot do anything; "accept" doesn't allow the game to be started and generally you are stuck in the game-creation-screen, no button does anything, not even cancel or "X".
Now, I tried out several things including firewall-configuration, opening the UDP ports in both routers, disabling any other networks(hamachi). I have the newest TI beta 3 Re Issue installed, so what sould I do ?
Reading through the posts on this forum, online play for TI should be working ... QUICK_EDIT
I'll admit that CNCNet isn't my strongest point of knowledge as I personally know very little about it. I've asked some of the other guys if they have any idea why it's happening (And Hifi is very hard to get hold of), but there is no certain answer either way. You're not the only person to get this issue, several people whom have tried to play TI online get the same problem.
Run CNCNet.exe, a small box pops up that checks for updates, the button shortly turns into a "Settings" button. Click on that and fiddle with the options. Check here for more information. QUICK_EDIT
Do you encounter any problems when playing skirmish? Or is it only when trying to play online? :S _________________
Think of me as Nordos, 'cause Banshee wouldn't rename me QUICK_EDIT
Oh, well, getting creamed by the (cheating) AI in skirmish mode works just fine^^
I agree, networking gets messy realy fast. Ill try out some of those cncnet-tutorials and maybe someone in the communications-center forum knows. QUICK_EDIT
I tried running cncnet with red alert 1 online, and that works just fine. So it seems this problem has nothing to do with connection malfunction (in cncnet), but something else. As i wrote, we could see each other in the TI lobby...
I'll try Tib Sun in the next few days to possibly exclude that too.
