Infantry Fighting Vehicle

Infantry Fighting Vehicles have been a major military asset in the largely asymmetrical conflict with the Brotherhood of Nod. The M2A2 Bradley's ability to scout enemy positions and even take on soft targets with the help of the infantry support it carries into battle makes it a highly valuable strategic asset. However, they are far more expensive than traditional armored personnel carriers and are not as common place in the GDI arsenal.

Very nice voxel, and I want to watch it in action to see how good it is as a unit.

I hated how hard it is to make the Bradley look so small though. I guess that's the next best thing to keeping it on a large size... an APC. Laughing

So what is this? Just looks like a Nod Light Tank to me. Guess it's campaign only?

It is a M2A2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle armed with a M242 Bushmaster chaingun and a TOW missile launcher. Its purpose is to carry 7 combat ready infantry into position and providing fire support once they have disembarked.

In other words, it is a better version of the M113 APC.

Looks cool, but I'd suggest replacing the Bradley and APC both with one unit; The Stryker ICV...Unless you want to have it replace simply the Bradley (MGS or FSV variant), the APC (again, ICV variant, but could overlap with Bradley) or the Medical Humvee (MEV variant).

I have a superficial restriction on vehicles. That stipulation is no vehicles past the year 2000 will make it in the GDI arsenal. However, the LAVIII could make an appearance since it was in service in 1999. I'm flirting with the idea of having a house system like Red Alert 2, but I am not certain if I will do that or not. It would be interesting to see a British flavored GDI or a German flavored GDI, but there aren't very many ways to implement the house system effectively. I suppose it could be a purely esthetic feature, but IDK.

I don't know to what capacity the Bradley and the Nod equivalent will be involved in the skirmish mode. I would like to have them make an appearance, but I am leaning on them being a campaign only unit.

Campaign only sounds fair, since it is a mix of two unit types...

Nice voxel wrong side tho, Nod's light tank was based in bradley for first C&C so this is mind buffling choice as else GDI used humvee/m113 apc unless intentionally rewriting WW styling.

Yes, I am and have been intentionally rewriting Westwood's mental retardation regarding anything military. Nod already has a light tank in this mod.

Well this is Renegade, so there's plenty of wiggle room lorewise.
Which is good.

If I remember correctly, if Nod orders a light tank on the airstrip, that light tank comes straight from the US military, thanks to some double-dealing guys in the US government.

And since the US military is part of GDI, and GDI thus also has access to Bradley's, you could say that there's no real lore problem here.

It mentions a scandal involving a U.S. Defense contractor, which through process of elimination was the Chrysler Defense Company which was bought by General Dynamics Land Systems. They were responsible for producing the original prototypes and first batch production of the Bradley.

In my mind they simply gave Nod blueprints for such vehicles when they were in their infancy which Nod simply copied and produced by themselves. They use air forces to transport their units to wherever they are needed from a centralized production facility whereas GDI assembles their vehicles on site. Renegade's Nod shows a more mature military force as a precursor into Tiberian Sun.

Also, the Bradley is used only by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.
