But hey, Ares is soooo stable, 0.2 could've been released years ago! Rolling Eyes

There's already 0.2P2.

Also, Ren, stop this. I'm close to fed up with your use-everything-to-prove-ME-right behaviour.

Oh, sure. Months of idiotic, contrary-to-the-evidence claims of stability instead of useful work are perfectly fine, but the occasional note of how the instability was known beforehand and didn't have to end up in a supposedly "stable" release is despicable and should be condemned. Rolling Eyes

You had your turns to spout your ill-conceived, unwarranted declarations of stability.
Now at least be man enough to grant me the same number of occasions to point out that I told you so.

If there wouldn't be a release then you wouldn't have any evidence. At all. You can't base a release on a testing team of 4 people. If there were 4 before that.

You told so, and what's the point? You would've killed the project because 'you told so'.

Yes, of course, average quality equals death. Rolling Eyes

And the instability was more than evidenced by the constant flow of bugs on one hand and the lack of evidence for stability on the other.

Why not move it to off-topic or the crapper straight away?

A product is not a waste if it contains bugs.
A release does not have to mean 100% robust.

Wasn't following this. Is it another Renegade-against-the-world flaming spree?

There was the case of "units can't go under bridges" that was a huge bug in 0.2
Thjat should have been fixed beforehand because it was just too pinful after months of testing for the people etc.

But the rest 0.2 was kinda fine.

Sometimes making somewhjat rushed releases in these cases actually helps development because stuff is detected that otherwise might have been unnoticed until much later.

And it got fixed once people noticed that it happens.
Bugs usually can't be spotted and fixed until someone encounters them. #Tongue

I guess software releases nowadays are 100% perfect and require no bug fixes what so ever Renegade.

personally i cant see what wrong to release even it still have some bug since every one use it for free and no one paid for it that make no reason to complain at all, just like i away do while i make my mod with Npatch AE [ that people away complain it bug fest but i still believe my mod work really stable and a lot smoother than YR with no mod ]. if i found bug in some feature i just avoid to use it as long as it's not a bug that make whole game unplayable.

but however what ever how great you do there will away have some people complain about it. i dont understand why Ares [overly] care about this so much.

and Ares is only YR mod patch in community after all everyone  [who still interest to mod the game] still use it what ever how it look like. if they found bug on important feature they need on their mod thy will report for sure.

Ares just fails where other software does well. Who has ever heard of bugs in commercial applications like Windows, Flash, Firefox, or Java? When was the last time one of these required an update?

Yes, the bridge thing was nasty, but it was only reported one week after 0.2 has been released. Thus I couldn't have fixed it before releasing. Maybe it was discovered not only after, but because of the release. Who knows? I don't think so, but I can't disprove it. Very Happy

There's no such thing as a "Bug free" program. If Microsoft waited to release Windows because all bugs haven't been found, we would still be waiting for Windows 95 to be released still today.

Laughing

If you people honestly think that your pathetic attempts to forcefully reframe the conversation as "Renegade expects perfection and we all said there will be bugs from the start" are going to impress me, you are sorely mistaken.

You claimed Ares was stable, it obviously wasn't, and I thoroughly enjoy every time reality derails your fantasy.

And no attempts to pretend I was talking about or claiming anything else will take that enjoyment from me.

Wow, what an asshole. Even I don't roll my eyes that much.

I think its time for mr. renegade to fully take over Ares - his vision is obviously superior to anyone else's.

Pouring oil into the fire isn't the greatest idea, but it can be very amusing on either end. Whether it's Renegade exploding with a 10-screen explanation of the (or let's say his) universe and you know it took him at least 30 minutes of his life which are totally wasted, or if it's people who start flaming him and are probably legit pissed of.

Never change, PPM.  #Mischievous

Oh look! It's yet another person voicing an opinion about Ares development, while at the same time showing they have not the slightest clue what's going on, because they can't be bothered to inform themselves.
We certainly didn't have enough of those yet.
