Subject description: IE caused by scrolling in my custom map
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi all,

I made a basic skirmish map which runs perfectly fine, until I start scrolling around the map.

It can take some limited scrolling, but it will crash if you scroll too much or too quickly.

This doesn't occur on any stock map, so there's a problem with the map for sure.

It's not caused by scrolling over anything in particular.

Couldn't find any problem like this on this forum yet, hope you guys can help.  Very Happy

Thanks.

I do not have access to my complete database, but its for sure related to drawing a Overlay on a cell, on a sloped cell i think...

Check if you have tiberium on a slope and remove it if you do.

Thanks for the quick responses, you're already legends. I erased all overlay and the problem is gone.

Now to put it all back. Very Happy

Could the problem have been a rock/tree/bridge, rather than Tiberium overlay?

If I think CCHyper means overlay on a Cliff Slope, or just a ramp (going from height X to height X +1), then I found the following issues:

Don't think I found every piece of Tiberium that could cause this error, but I just looked over the map real quickly.

Also; Oh my God those cliff errors...

Thanks for your time!

Yeah, it's not going to be pretty since I made the map in a night and it's the first map I have made for a decade. Very Happy

If I may sneak in an extra question, how can I get good neutral lighting? The scripts change the colours too much for my taste.

Thanks all.

You get IE from having Tiberium on the slope. I see like 5 or 6 (possibly more than I see) of it on the slope. They aren't allowed to be on the slope.

I'm not familiar with TS lighting, but you could take a look at TS missions and adapt lighting from one of those.

As for the IE you were getting, is it gone now?
If there's any question regarding trigger work, or taskforce/teamtype/scripttype, I'd more than happy to help.

Edit -> Lighting. Experiment with those values until the lighting satisfies you.
