This small, isolate island in Micronesia has recently caught the interest of the warring factions for two reasons. First, the volcanic, mineral-rich centre of the island is abundant with Tiberium deposits, and pockets of Tiberium have emerged all around the island. Second, several abandoned research outposts reveal troubling facts of the island: During the First Tiberium War, a fierce battle was fought for control of the island. The victorious faction set a secret research station to study the regenerative abilities of Tiberium. Inadvertently, they unleashed a genetically modified Veinhole monster, and after futile attempts to contain the threat, the island was abandoned. Tiberium life forms now run wild, and it is only a matter of days before the island is completely devoured by the vein monster. Whether brave or reckless, the factions are here again for the same reason as before - control over the island and its resources.

Those weird orange plants in the middle are part of the VHM? Looks odd. Though the diversity of Tiberium plant life makes this feel kind of creepy. Just enough diversity to give it that Alien feel.

Not part, but they're related. The orange "plants" are often seen accompanying veins for some reason, perhaps having a mutualistic relationship, but they can survive without each other.
