Hi guys. Just making a request here because requests on Launchpad are rarely seen. So, can you add TiberiumToSpawn tag like it was in FS? That would allow people to make TIBTRE's spown other types of ore and even may be make their own Tibspawners.

I looked into TiberiumToSpawn already (you can see I updated the ModEnc article about it), and it is easily possible to add this thing. I have left it out of 0.5 because it requires Terrain types to be expanded, which Ares doesn't do atm.

The requests on LaunchPad are seen, I just don't comment on every new one because the research required to write some estimation there usually takes more than half the time to implement them right away. I could spend my whole time to look up stuff for all the features people request.

But can't you add just a little tag to make TIBTRE's spawn diffrent tiberiums? Something like TiberiumToSpawn=Cruentius or TTS=2?

I asked him same, similiar request, because FS has blue tiberium tree
TiberiumToSpawn=2

This is tag in FS. But AlexB told me this is not just adding ,,little tag" (I asked him same as you), because it needs little more work and investigation than it seems. Currently it needs expanding of terrain types.

I support this request (whatever is related to Tiberium I support mostly), and I will test and use it if it will be implemented, as my mod also depends of tiberium features.

It would be no problem if the tag would go under TechnoType, a Tiberium or Animation. Terrain types have not yet been expanded (there was no need yet), so I cannot add a new tag to a Terrain type.

It would require some work. Not much; actually it's just book keeping and then reading the tags, but it's a big change in relation to the feature.

A weapon can be made to spawn any tib type you want, stick it on a 0x0 building over a dummy TIBTRE & ya done...

I'd love to see more terrain related features in the future tho!

Mig Eater, I was talking  with AlexB few times by now regarding workarounds, and even last night. He told me specifically that he is not interested in workaround, as coder he is recreating how it was originally in TS, then making it more customizable.
So, if he implements this, he will make it how it was originally, plus adding tag that we can spawn other tiberium types if we want.

are you referring to things like walls, weeds, tib?

That's overlay. Trees and Ore Mines are terrain objects. Neither are expanded by Ares at the moment.

One could think about an additional feature not related to terrain objects spawning Tiberium, but not as a workaround. Then I'd rather do the real thing. Allowing buildings to spawn Tiberium would be a new feature, and it wouldn't replace the way involving terrain.

Yeah, thats answer which I got last night aswell.
I gave him idea of 1x1 unselectable untargetable building which spawns tiberium, which has image of ore mine/tiberium tree, and he told me that its new feature, it cannot still replace original thing.
So be it, I am for original thing, but I am also for allowing techo type to spawn tiberium aswell. It would be funny to have building, or unit, infantry or even aircraft which spawn tiberium slowly like Tiberium tree.

Tiberium crate bonus
Code:
Gets a random Tiberium type. If it's the second type, set it to the first type.

Put this type on the cell the crate was on; first grow step, i.e. not much worth.

Roll the dice: Random number X between 10 and 20.

Check whether X is 0... (that was most likely the compiler being unable to see what was going on here.)

Do this X times:
Get a random coord up to 3 cells away. Put the Tiberium type on that place as above.

If the game cannot add tiberium to a cell, it will not retry. If a cell already contains tiberium, the value is increased.

The functions used are essentially the same as spawning uses, Refineries or Harvesters spilling, Tiberium Remains, ...

Could you use the framework laid out by that function to add the ability to have animations spawn Tiberium/Ore?

That way, anything that could have animations could spawn ore without hacks. (And that includes ActiveAnims on buildings.)

Sure it's possible. Ares 0.5's Tiberium Spill for units and Tiberium Remains are already custom implementations.

And here's something from October: I hardcoded all trees to spawn gems, and it works pretty well (except that the trees here use the same palette as the ore mine). I thought I'd post it because it's the time of the year where valuable stuff is placed under trees.
