A small rocket projectile with exhaust plume, useful if you want to avoid the lag of trailer anims.

the lack of transparency and an animation make it rather look like a fallen red and white tree.

less is better in this case i think and having only a small yellow flame would be more convincing than the big smoke cloud.

The big smoke cloud would be normally also left behind and don't fly with the missile. So when you have this ingame, it will surely look even more strange.

I actually made it for D-day in the hopes I could delag a few weapons, but I didn't really like it too so I posted it here.

Hmm, maybe making the smoke an alpha image could help...

Intentions are good but the execution is unfortunately lacking. Don't be discouraged though, how does it look with a much smaller trailer?

can you make an alphaimage follow a projectile in RA2? Ares? Also have it 32 facings?
If that's possible, would it be more performance friendly than 5 to 10 left behind trailer anims?

But if it works well, then an alphaimage would be indeed nice. especially if you use colors <127 to create a dark smoke and >127 for light/fire.

Ares allows 32 facing or animated alpha images, depending on what it's attached to. I'm not sure if it will work on projectiles tho, I'll test it out & report back.

Ares allows 32 faced alpha image, but appearing of several moving alphas on one screen will drop fps. This is a reason why I disabled moving alpha light on vehicles in RW.

Projectiles alphas work but are glitched with alpha streaks that vanish improperly after, else quite nice following of projectile.
32 facings only apply to unit/turrets, afraid not on projectile.

Interesting idea however.
