And the "sales" just are not good enough for me... To many games locked at $10... There are some older games that I would buy if the were under $5... _________________ MadHQ's Graveyard - Click here!

Standard retail pricing is a ripoff? I guess, depending on what you value videogames at.
I've found some games that interest me. Metro Series, that new Wolfenstein expansion. Those I'll be getting. Then there is some sim game called Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations, but with it costing $40 after a 50% discount...I'll pass.
but in general, too many games I already have- Crysis, Valkyria Chronicles, etc... _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

Don't really care tbh. I have little time for new games, and I've been holding back from getting new games since a couple of my latest boughts ended being pretty meh-ish. That, and I still need to finish Just Cause 2 QUICK_EDIT

It's not really ripoff in my opinion.
But if you can get your keys from a site like this: http://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/
Then why bother buying shit on Steam? _________________

Why would you define it as 'standard retail pricing'? Steam has always been more expensive than shops and Amazon here. And the prices drop with age very slowly too, unlike other retail outlets, so even after several years they're still "full price" on Steam and half price on others. QUICK_EDIT
Steam Sales are going to be the death of me. I have little self-control when it comes to good deals... However, this time around there isn't really anything I want, I already own all the games I've wanted to get this year on Steam from previous sales or daily discounts. QUICK_EDIT

Because Steam doesn't really set the prices. The publishers have a lot of control there. That's why some really old Call of Duty games are still quite expensive. Conversely, it's also why you saw CNC4's price plummet not too long after release.
And yes, if I were to go one of the nearby stores here that sells computer games, they would be the same price as what I'm being asked on Steam. If they even had such games. Brick and mortar store computer game selections have dwindled dramatically in the last decade or so, with the proliferation of all the online acquisition methods.
