Oh that's cool. I don't see a trailer on the projectile mid-flight so how is this done?

I made something similar a while ago using a long CourseLockDuration to make a bomb fall directly down & then spawn a second stage with Splits just before it hits the water. On some angles the path of the projectiles looked a bit odd tho.

Is this done in a similar way? I also tried shrapnel weapons & spawning an infantry to fire the second stage. Unlike Splits you dont have any control over the targeting of the second stage tho.

In TS i would use a falling bomb projectile with Splits=yes, RetargetAccuracy=100% and as the second stage projectile a usual missile.

In DTA we use a Floater logic topedo, thus it hits the first enemy object in its path and doesn't travel under/through ships along its way.
This makes it a lot more interesting ingame, when well armored ships can protect weak ones behind them.


Using such a Floater projectile as the second stage could be interesting for a torpedo bomber.

Well,I think I got it,so the black eagle spawn a hornet on shape of a torpedo and with a flight level of 0,and that hornet have a regular torpedo, is that right? By the way I didn't tested it so  
I don't know if its done like that

I managed to recreate the effect but not as consistently as in the gifs you posted. Sometimes the dummy plane fires it's weapon before it reaches the water (resulting in the torpedo blowing up in mid air too) & other times the dummy plane moves across the water for several cells before firing. Rarely does it work with perfect timing.

Yes Floater doesn't work the same in RA2/YR.
