Actually, that's not a terrible idea. Put catch fins on/under the fins and a generating turbine underneath. That would be pretty cool!

Very nice SHP. Good details and lighting.
However, on the comparison shot, the starcraft one looks a bit better. The panels aren't that dark and the panels texture is a lot smoother on the starcraft one.

To be usable, it should also include damage frames.
It would be also nice if the rotating part is a separate SHP.

As the others mentioned, a wind generator could be nice to explain the rotation.
e.g. a small vertical axis helical turbine put on top.


P.S. I like the dune sandworm skeleton.
