I am sure it's possible to start making a new different terrain for RA2 from scratch, just like what MadHQ did, he made over 2 different terrains, how to do that if SHP builder both 3.36 and 3.38 cannot open tmp, sno, des, urb, ubn, and lun files that come from for example 'isotem.mix'?

You need TMP Editor or TMPShop for thos, AFAIK.
There are 2(+) versions of XCC TMP Editor, for some reason.

I actually wanted not only editing a terraintype or replacing, but also replacing a different image, or even adding a new image.

1. you create the graphics with any tool you want (photoshop, 3ds max etc)
2. you convert the graphics using the mentioned tmp editing tools
