often, when you try to use Olaf Van Der Speck's winamp plug-in script to convert wavs to auds, the plug in fails to do so. This is because the frequency is different (The DvD pointed this out).

In order for the Winamp plugin to read and convert your wavs, the wav must first be in 44,100kHz to 48,000kHz 16bit Mono/Stereo. This is easily done through the Windows Sound Recorder 32 (I think even windows95 already came with this). Just open your problematic wav with Sndrec32 and click on File>Properties and then near the bottom is a part that reads Format conversion. Click on the adjacent button that says 'Convert Now' then select 44,100kHz 16bit Mono or Stereo the 16bit is very important because otherwise the winamp plug in won't read your wav file.

After executing your now 44,100kHz 16bit mono/stereo wav files with the winamp plugin, just go to your target directory and see if the converted auds are there.  Wink

I've uploaded Olaf Van Der Speck's Winamp plugin and a Sndrec32.exe so you can get started right away!  Very Happy

hey I found out that 22,050 kHz works too but what's important is you make sure that is 16 bit mono or stereo Smile

Alternatively, get to the WAV file in XCC Mixer after making sure it is in the correct format for conversion, right click "Copy as AUD"

It's not clipboard copy... and you can make it copy to any place you want if you pull open the second file browser:

(this works in both directions, but you can't copy straight into an opened mixfile)

Don't you know where you copied/installed your XCC Utils? How do you start them if you don't know the path to the exe?

A Windows file search to find your lost file can help too. Wink

Gah!

I just posted how you control where it ends up!

It will be copied wherever the second file browser is located. Just pull it open in XCC Mixer, right click in it and select "Explore", and you got the folder.

5 years later Audacity could do the job too couldn't it? Setting it to 16bit 44,100kHz and then export as WAV to then convert with the XCC mixer to aud.
