Is a plug-in for gmax specific for one version (eg 1.1) or can it be used in all subsequent versions (I have 1.2 i think), as I've got a plug-in set up correctly (installed exactly as it told me in the readme) and it doesn't bloody work! if I can get it to work then I might well be on to exporting .w3d to .vxl myself, any ideas ppl?

no, i can. I've got a .gmax to .mdl plugin, then i've got another program that converts from .mdl to .3ds, then we all know about the .3ds to .vxl program. I just can't get the damn plugin to work

yeah, bit of a convoluted process. But it will work except that the damn .mdl plugin i downloaded doesn't allow me to export to .mdl, thus ruinning my plan for world domination...... i mean erm....... red generals graphic production.

i know. thx for the al caps Smile ur so polite
nm thats not what i did. i used 3ds demo and converted to vxl from mdl. y dont u do that? 30 days is enough if you have all the models ready. BTW, i couldn't figure out how to get textures to work with that converter but voxels dont really need tex anyway.

but the thing is I need to convert the .w3d to something that I can then convert to .3ds, and as far as I know this can only be done in gmax
