When you backup, your supposed to back it up somewhere else... so you can copy it back incase something like this happens, not just to another folder ¬_¬

Disks, sites, discettes, other computers - that's where you store backups...

Things you should take from this experience:
Don't let morons use your PC.

And if you mean partitioning afterwards, that's not really going to work is it?

no, before i lost access to my PC, i tried to before everything was lost.. and it still died... I wanted to save anything that was in "my documents" by creating a partition and moving it to that part, but before I could, Remote Shutdown Protocal (whatever the hell it is) activated and shut down the computer... when i tried to reboot, i got the blue screen of doom just before the login screen.. so i lost it all.

tbh as a rule you should never save stuff you actually need to C: - saves a shit load of time and effort to have everything parititoned off. If I had my Twisted Malice stuff in C: I'd have lost it about 7 times now. #Tongue

You mean the boot drive, I assume, rather than just C:...
I installed Windows to my K: drive. Smile

But yeah, very good advice; for the best configuration, all that should really ever be on a boot partition is the OS.

For I'd think 90% of users it's C: - it's shorter to type than 'boot drive'. #Tongue
