Well, this is where show the terrain in DS. How this works; I post a picture and comment about the new stuff. Much of this will be a work in progress or placeholders, and I will make a point of saying whats what.


Ok, in this pic we have:
Cliffs - The style is pretty much final, I have to fix some of the blending though.
Slopes - The SE facing slopes are expecialy screwed. I mostly left it that way becuse I am pushing twords getting to a point where mapping can be done. I will fix it sometime, but not yet.
Retaining Wall - They currently look like a standard wall, but its actualy a building placed on a slope as to make a more interactive environment. Basicly if you blow them up, you can move through the area. When I'm done they will actualy look like a dirt retaining wall.
Roads - They are just placeholders, but the final version will be of a simaler style though.
Rocks - I dont like one of them, but otherwise this batch is done.
Hedgehogs - Minor detail, but might as well mention them. They are done, atleast for now.

Holy shit. THE nicest terrain I have ever seen, and this isn't PPM exaggeration.

The cliffs are so real... so sharp. The slopes are just highly detailed chocolate waterfalls. #Tongue

A friend recently gave me some pointers on making an effective terrain from a mapper's perspective. Which means, hopefully, then when I start on the civilian parts, it should turn into something worth looking at Smile

Ye, it's fantastic. Wink Probably evident to you already, but some of the cliffs don't join up, and in some parts the slopes have poor perspective, resulting in a feeling that they aren't slopes.

Yeah. I'm just trying to get it done enough to map for now. My plan is to get the work complete enough to allow more people to join and work. As it is, a mapper would just be a name on the list, and a AI guy would be lost. When other people can work on it, then I will get everything done right Wink

I ment to post this the first of this month, but I kept forgetting. Anyways, here is the first city shot. Please keep in mind that most everything in this shot will be fixed or updated in some way.

I was intending to add a low bridge looking peice for the ditch, but things happened so I havent made it yet. I also am planning more, like more road variations, driveways, and other such stuffs.

Roads - You can't tell in this shot, but I still have the other style too, so you can use the correct style for the area.
Sidewalks - Still have meny types left, but I made these so the mapper can do just about anything they want with them.
Retaining Walls - Updated since what you saw in the first post of this thread, but still not done.
Buildings - Need to re-render them all with a few updates, but please note: I will be adding variation and dont need to be reminded.

Wow. I love the style of the buildings, oddly the repetetion gives it this inhuman feel.... its very lonely and depressing, works very well in that shot.

He's probably busy... I know he has alot of other things he likes to do. I haven't seen him on MSN in a wail, but that maybe just me as I haven't really been on MSN that much either so I wouldn't know...

But it would be a shame if this mod was doomed to be dead....
