Hey Guys i was woundering,
most'ly maps run with Xml files(like the Overrides.XML.Map.XML) soo is there a way of changing units, building units
by editing Xml files and pasting in the script?

i've always wanted to go bac to modding through maps
as ya can still share the map without adding anything to the game which will prevent you from going online.

It yont help you much:

The came wont read uncompiled xml files, so you need to compile your map xmls.
However, compiled map xmls wont be transfered automaticly, so everyone would need to download the map before he can use it :/

Essentially what hes saying, is the XML would have to be sent to all players first before trying to even play the map.

The xmls located in the map folders are not used by the game as it can only read compiled xmls. You can edit them as much as you want, it won´t change a thing.
The only way to make map specific changes of this kind is to actually compile the data, pretty much like you´d do it when creating a mod. The point that Stygs was making is that even though these compiled files will be read by the game, when another player doesn´t have the map and it gets transferred to him automatically those compiled files will not be transferred - in order to use such a map in MP, it must be manually downloaded.

So it´s like this:
XML: Will be transferred automatically but don´t have any effect.
Compiled Data: Will change the game but doesn´t get transferred automatically.

Erm, yea, what he said, left out the point about it needing to be compiled. Razz
