Flame Towers...If you add flame towers, you need the WHOOOOOOSH sound. Mmmmmmboy. I'd like a crispy Riflemen to go with my disintegrated Mammoth Tank, please.
Great stuff, very intimidating, but I am sorta with Chiel when it comes to the rounded edges.

Well IMO, there's no point to have a flame tower, since the laser is already an "improved flame tower", as it's an anti-infantry base defence, which is also relatively good against armoured targets, and even more they both would burn infantry. If you want to keep it, I would say remove the small laser tower, and add the flame tower and the cannon tower. QUICK_EDIT
You make a very valid point. The reason I wanted to add other defense structures was to simple add Variety, Tiberian Sun lacked in variety and Flame Towers seemed like a very Nod-like structure. QUICK_EDIT

I do support the idea of more and varied defensive structures, however if you plan on doing so, I'll suggest giving them different purposes. For RO I'm going to separate them in anti-infantry, anti-tank, anti-air, a super base defence, and a special "base defence". As you might guess this means the removal of the laser turret for Nod.
I'll sugest you do something similar, and remove the small laser, and replace it with a flame tower, and some sort of cannon (or energy weapon; you know something like a plasma cannon). QUICK_EDIT
yea, Machine hit what I felt, sure Flame Throwers would be neat conceptually but we can play around with alternate forms of defense? In fact I think I have a better use for the "Flame tower" concept.
In my eyes the laser seems like a fairly weak downgrade to the ole TD cannon. so something in that same vein. being able to tackle on enemy armor supporting any nearby Laser emplacements. And they can be fitted with a plasma type cannon with elite status. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT

How about if you want to use a flame tower, which is a fairly basic piece of hardware for TS's times you make it something like a mutant based weapon? Only instead they launch fire trailing grenades which explode with a few fire animations left behind? Rather than a 2mph flame slowly taking a few battles to reach it's target? Same outcome, toasted infantry, just would look a bit better and is put to a more realistic use. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

i gave Aro already the code for a flamethrower weapon that leaves a line of flames along the path it travels and which has a nice area effect at the impact.
This one also doesn't has the flaws of the normal flamethrower, that doesn't allows veterancy, moves very slow and has to wait until the first shot is over before it can fire the next one.

its more of the mechanic of the "orb" bouncing around frying enemies then exploding...
Thing is ''Plasma'' is a staple buzzword in sci-fi that sorta can be defined to whatever the fiction deems it...sure call it "photon", "molecular death ray" "OMGWTF" cannon but its really depiction is just so overused that it is boring..
I just imagined a quad-barreled turret like structure, behind it an armored shell housing a bloated mutant with strapped down with tubes feeding the turret. another is a "willing" mutant strapped down in a chair in wired with IV's manning the turret...
another inception..well unfeasible really but oh well...
is a grinder like structure that one can sent in infantry...what goes in, comes out. XD
I imagined it using capture mutants or lifeforms as a primary ammo...but why not normal infantry they can do "piercing" damage as their bone fragments fly and stab the enemy...while tossing in some mutants add a little "corrosive" flavor burning away more armored units... hecks why not throw in some smaller units, like buggies,recon bikes that shoot out as Armor piercing debris while larger ones spew out flaming debris that explosives...
. If you really wanna get technical have the grinder..overwork its gears to grind heavier metals to where it is broken down into raw burning "plasma"! XD >.> remember kiddies this is sci-fiction.. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
