As for a suggestion, I would like some shortcut keys that would allow users to navigate the section layers with each key makes a movement in the axis the users want.

Also allow the ability to customize shortcut keys through a Options>Preference control thingy.

and shortcuts like this:

W=move up in "N" axis
S=move down in "N" axis

where "N" is could be any axis depending on the viewport selected.
I.E. Top=y, Right=X, Back=Z

I guess thats it for now Smile

hmm, that would be a VERY good thing to have.
Why didn't I think of that? #Tongue

It would be very useful, especially on large naval voxels.

Exactly why I requested it!. I'm currently working on Normalizing my Aircraft Carrier, and got tired of using my mouse to move up in down the layers.

Cant you select it like in the image provided and then just press the left and right keys to go through the layers?

My point above^, and its more comfortable to use the W,S keys to automatically navigate up and down the axis instead of having to click and use the arrows keys on the far right on my keyboard. Which I think most users find it annoying.

W, S....

selecting the bar and using left and right arrows...

Guys, I'm not sure about what would be the best solution. I need something that would be more... errr.. natural, instinctive. Arselona's suggestion looks a bit more natural than Gamingroach's, but I have a feeling that we still can design a better solution for it. I'll think about it, but if you guys have better ideas, please post it here.

Hold down X to select the X layers and move through them with arrow keys,
hold down y for y layers etc...

Well at least have a shortcut key on the left side of the keyboard to make the interface more comfortable like WSAD=the corresponding Arrows keys on the right side of the keyboard. Also this suggestion is not much of a Priority but a great addition to have IMO.

I added a Poll to let the community decide. Smile

Your poll doesn't help at all. I did not refuse the idea of shortcuts for it. I just need a better way to design it. Paranoia's idea can be interesting, if x simply selects the X axis and then, we follow Arselona's idea. Keep incomming guys.

How about instead of holding down on the keys, why not just press them.
So if you press X it would select the x layers and that be it, no need of holding them down, and of course using the right and left keys or the mouse wheel to go through the layers.

EDIT: Oh sorry Paranoia, you didnt mean holding them down as I can read from Banshee's post, I read too fast.

so, holding X, Y or Z would select the axis, then the arrow keys would move the layer selection?
That might work pretty well.

You can already navigate the layers with the arrows keys.
Also presing X,Y,Z buttons makes it go up in their corresponding axis. which is already in the current version Vxlse III. However, Team Black, your point on making X,Y,Z buttons to switch between viewports is a interesting idea Razz

I fail to see the point of this thread o.0 you can already go up or down any of the layers with keyboard shortcuts, I spent a year nagging Banshee to add them! I'd rather have the bug that makes VXLSE sometimes crash when you use them fixed the anything else done.

Yea, just checking here and... meh... this was implemented years ago on VXLSE III Laughing

Here's the deal, guys, straight from VXLSE II help file:

X - scroll one line in x-plane
Y - Scroll one line in y-plane
Z - Scroll one line in z-plane
Shift + X - Scroll one line in opposite direction in x-plane
Shift + Y - Scroll one line in opposite direction in y-plane
Shift + Z - scroll one line in opposite direction in z-plane
