Absolutely awesome.

The muzzle flash (I dunno how to call it) looks too...shapey Elliptical, to be exact. However, it's awesome, really. Detailed, too. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Who is APB? Can you show a picture/link of his/her Mammoth?

It is just a ellipse. (or better a sphere in an elliptical shape )
The "special effects" where only a 10min job and nothing fancy. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
And this is their old, dated model too. I can't wait till they remake the beast. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

thanks for the links.
Though i can't see much wrong with the APB mammoth. It's normal that game versions have a lower detail, but imo it is still quite accurate. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
i'm not sure. maybe later. the current version uses a lot of 3dsmax's 3D-textures from which i doubt that they still work in the 3ds format for the final vxl-conversion

But is look great?
Maybe a picture from more far away would help you to find out what's wrong. I'm really interested in creating one very accurate version.

i try to fix the lighting, though i'm not sure what you mean. It's a quite normal lighting which you would use for terrain art too.
You're right about the chamfered edges. Now that you mentioned it, i saw that the missile packs need more work.
As you can see is also the track wheels texture still a little problem. I try to find a good texture for them.
If someone has some really good pictures of the mammoth from official renders etc, it would be great if you could upload them here or post a link to them.

-You should chamfer the edges, this will make the model way more realistic.
-The rocket launchers are also more rounded.
-those two black greebles on the backside of the turret need some smooth.
-More resolution for the shadow map.
And by the way, everytime you post a image with such a high resolution without a thumbnail, you will kill a user with a small monitor, like me. ^^ _________________ Tiberian Fall The Art Of Tiberian Fall QUICK_EDIT

yep, i work already on this

fixed

these are ray-traced shadows. There isn't more resolution possible.

that's the problem of ppm. Tibweb made automatically a thumbnail. On ppm i would have to use an external picture hoster like imageshack, but there i can't make sure that the pictures stay there. If someone after a year wants to see these pictures they are most probably deleted on the imagehoster.

what do you plan to use this for? Mod for a 3d game?
i didn't planned anything with this one. It was basically just for fun and to have at least the possibility to create big highly detailed wallpapers, which i still haven't found yet.
LKO, you can render 3ds max materials as textures by selecting the sub-material (eg. bump map, ambient, diffuse) and right-clicking the material and selecting "Render map..." QUICK_EDIT
hey thank you Donut. Now there shouldn't be anything standing against a voxel-conversion. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
You should do it again but bring the rockets in closer to the tank and make the tank take up more of the screen, it'd make a great wallpaper. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
Maybe you should use another more greyish background with clouds, and darken the leaves of those trees a bit. You also could set down the color satiation to give the entire image a colder look. So everything will look more menacing.
Five minutes is a good time for a render, my longest render took about eleven hours, for a single frame. XD _________________ Tiberian Fall The Art Of Tiberian Fall QUICK_EDIT
needs grass texture, looks like the somme... Then again if a mammoth is passing through... _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
i don't think i'll spend more time on the background as it was/is the mammoth which counts
i also don't have any experience in creating photorealistic renders, so it would take too much time to find out all the correct settings. Time which i need for TI,XTX and other modding stuff. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
Needs 1440X900 render, then it will become my desktop, replacing a rather attractive brunette
However, a mammoth can lay waste to an army, not just lay on a sofa. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT

Very nice, but I have few remarks to this model:
- Those wheels looks too small for so heavy tank.
- Those cannons looks like weld to turret, unable to elevate.
Also, I think APB RA mammoth model is better, because it has more details and metalic normals map like other models in RA:APB, you can see it very well in a map Keep of the Grass for example. Also RA mammoth should be looking like tank from 1950's while TD mammoth should be looking modern like this one. _________________

There needs to be a bit at the back of the gun that looks like part of a circle exposed, a kinda part like this: |)=====[] _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT

There is no need to render it again. You can simply cut out a picture with these dimensions
from the last render, you can cut out the tank without losing any missile or other details. just a bit background will be gone.
@partyzanPaulZy
thanks for the hints. I'll try to fix those issues.
Though unfortunately do i haven't found any official render in a higher resolution showing either the wheels in detail nor the barrel with the motion link you've mentioned.
So i have to use real tank images and adapt these.
But then it isn't an exact replica of the official renders anymore. So i think i'll have to rename it then to X67 Mammoth _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
It's a really nice model to put in a game, nice form, texture, probably good polycount.. But it needs seriously alot detail if you want to compare it to my apocalypse model, and currently worked on prism tank. Not to be cocky or anything, just look at the two models and conclude for yourself _________________ Criticizing n00bs is like booing at the special olympics. QUICK_EDIT
i'm not overly fond of the texture you used on the mammoth, i mean it's suitable for a voxel, but for a 3D model that you're showcasing it could use alot more love. the wheels as well within the treads need some more detailing all the same, i mean it looks to me like they're just sitting in the treads... but, meh. that's just me nice model indeed but i think you could do alot better QUICK_EDIT
thanks partyzanPaulZy
this is the first pic showing me the wheels in bit better detail.
i also found an interesting 3dsmax tutorial, that doesn't only shows how to model them (Stingerr's tutorial link in the apoc thread was for maya only), but also how to animate these tracks. So there is nothing standing against a cool video.
But first i will concentrate my efforts on making the model more detailed. (Beside the main work for TI)

small tipp:
You used Yellow and Red at your muzzle-flashes and rockettrails. Try Yellow-White instead. Red would only appear at really big explosion with fire-clouds.
You may give it a little bit of orange, but then really just a tiny bit
I know its probably just a minor detail, but it bugs me everytime I see a render. _________________ audiopulse sagt:
