Damn, is the patch supposed to make the game so laggy? Is this normal, or did I make a mistake in applying the patch?

Gameplay itself is not laggy but the load screens and random map generator stall for at least a minute before showing any results.

Hmm, the lag is absent when I have my TS disk in.
Does anyone know exactly which file on the disk may affect this?

It could be because of what you might have running in the background, that another program is trying to hog up your computer's RAM which is in turn making your game run slow.

Nahh, I've tested to rule out that possibility.

In short
TS disk in = fast, almost instantaneous loading time.
TS disk out = slow, 3 minute load time (For example, being stuck on "Creating theories for likely enemy plan" for long periods.)

Maybe it waits for disc for a few seconds before deciding to read from directory.

ETS has a NoCD, and contains no new code that would lag the system in any way.

Thanks for replies, I've resolved to just play with the disc in.

Suggesting that my problem shouldn't exist is redundant mate =/
If you've got a solution though I'd be happy to try it =]

Its not making it redundant, i know for a fact that ETS contains no code that would alter system performance, so im just ruling that factor out before anyone goes on the attack.

Ever since I've used ETS, on the loadscreen, there is a lag, not very long for me, but I definately notice it over original TS.

Never had a problem with this on any version of ETS and I am using a version of NoCD for TS:FS in conjunction with ETS 3.40 #0019 on a WinXP computer (no CD ROM or virutal CD ROM at all here)

The only thing that I know causes this kind of huge loading times on some places is having a ton of lose .mpr maps or whatever format Tiberian Sun used (I myself put all in a mix file and got myself a index file for them)
