Update #2 04/2010: PPM-exclusive public beta of ROTD 2.8
Yup, I've decided to release a public beta of ROTD 2.8 here at PPM before I release it at ModDB and so on.
[removed, since ROTD 2.8 has been released]
It's stand-alone, so just extract it into its own, separate folder. The only things missing are credits, readme, FinalSun - ROTD Edition and music.
I need feedback, especially on the balance of "Reaperrr's Rules", since the new units and revised veterancy system may need further tweaking. With Crimsonum being the only active internal beta tester (not counting myself), I believe this public beta is the only way to catch balancing problems before the non-beta release.
Feel free to post any glitches, balance issues and other problems you come across here. Feel also free to take and upload some screenshots (preferably at resolutions of 1024x768 or lower, though).
PS: Since Crim and me have encountered some problems under Vista/Win7 without compatibility mode, please set the compatibility mode of RTD.exe to Win98/ME, otherwise the game crashes when loading a map. Last edited by Reaperrr on Thu Apr 15, 2010 11:17 pm; edited 3 times in total QUICK_EDIT
I recommend that we test it together via Hamachi or XWIS. What do you think? Do you have time?
edit: I've tested both the normal RotD and Reaperrr's rules. I think that either the reload time of the nuke is too short or the AI uses it too often for some reason. QUICK_EDIT

Sorry, I'm really busy since university started 2 weeks ago (that's why I went for the public beta approach, because I don't have enough time to test things thoroughly myself).

I played a quick skirmish match yesterday and had a similar impression. I'll increase the reload time a bit.
Also, I came across a few other minor issues myself while playing. I think I'll just fix them + the nuke reload and then assemble the full ROTD 2.8. There don't seem to be any game-breaking issues, and if there should really be some serious balance issues that weren't noticed yet, I can always release an 2.81 update. QUICK_EDIT
