Ares 0.6 Breaks Type Select Function

Greetings, it's been ages since I posted in the forums, but I'm finally getting back to modding again while I'm still busy with RL (college in this case).

I had been using Ares 0.2 with no problems and today decided to upgrade to 0.6, but after testing it out it seems that the 'select unit by type' function, and its associated hotkey (default 'T') crashes the game (modded or vanilla, same effect) to the "Main executable for Yuri's Revenge is not responding." Since this kind of error doesn't generate an except.txt or any debug info I am unable to provide such info. Has anyone else experienced this?
I've found that 0.5 does the same thing, but 0.4 does not, and has so far no other issues for me.

My specs if needed are:
OS: Win8 64bit with Pokki start menu prog
CPU: Intel Core i5-3210M @ 2.5GHz x4
RAM: 8GB
Video: NVidia GeForce GTX 660M 2GB

Never had any crash when doing type select, and i'm always using the newest Ares possible.

You should upload syringe.log after it crashes, provided you don't start the game before uploading it.

Seriously though, never heard before of anyone having this issue, even people with Win8.

Most likely, this is due to win8, starting with 0.5 Ares has problems with win8. Have you tried Unstable Builds 0.7?

Not at this time, tho I know my YR doesn't like being minimized via the Windows key for that reason.

@mevitar: Here ya go. Tested with 0.6 and the hotkey mapped to apostrophe for testing (still didn't work btw).

Update: Alex's version 14.104.1197 doesn't work either.

I couldn't reproduce this issue, and alas the syringe.log does not show anything wrong either. But I suspect a something. Will take some time, because it touches a part of the YR++ code that is used almost everywhere. Thanks for reporting.

Np, in any case 0.4 is better than the 0.2 I was using, and I haven't found any other issues so far, but I'll post 'em here if I do. Later this week I'll fire up my old Win7 lappy and try to reproduce it there.

Im same problem with Ares 0.6. I have Windows 8 64-bit too...

Seems to be strictly Win8 related problem/incompatibility with something related to it, my win7 64bit works properly and most likely any previous windows versions as this is not something reported previously.

Can you check whether this build fixes the issue? It might also fix Gluk's problem on Windows 8.

Then I was wrong about the reason, or I missed a bit. Just to be sure, does this work? It's an outdated build from december, so it shouldn't be used except for this test.

edit: If it was the latter, then this will fix it.
