Cameo Generator: Someone has set us the...
That cameo is a sample of what can be generated by OS SHP Builder 3. Here's the final layout of this tool that will be one of the best tools that will be featured in OS SHP Builder 3.
At the Main section, you have the following options:
Game: Set the way cameos are made. There several modes for RA2 and one for TS. I recommend using Kravvitz 1.
Text: For RA2 cameos only. You can set the text that appears in the cameo by using 1 or 2 lines of text.
Side Colour: It appears only when you are making a cameo from a unit or building graphiuc using unitXXX.pal. It simply changes the remmapable colour to a playable colour (gold, red, green, blue, light blue, pink, purple, teal).
TextBar Darkness: Sets the dark effect of the bar that is in the bottom of the cameo and holds the text. It makes the colours there darker. Ignore this setting if you check the Auto TextBar Darkness.
Buttonize Darkness and Lightness: Sets the removal periodic adition and removal of colours on the borders to make a buttonized effect. For example, a colour (100,100,100) can become (120,120,120) in a determined pixel if you set the Lightness to 20.
Make From Frame: Exclusive for those who are making cameos from a unit or building graphic using unitXXX.pal. It determines which frame will be picked and turned into a cameo.
At the Options, we have some goodies:
Add Text: The text appears in the cameo. Duh.
Use Text Bar: The dark effect in the bottom of the cameo where the text is written appears.
Buttonize: The cameo gets a buttonized effect with the settings from the main section.
Auto TextBar Darkness: Sets an automatic TextBar darkness settings based on the current picture calculated by the program.
Add Veteran Symbol: It adds the veteran symbol in the top left of the cameo. Don't add one if your cameo is for TS .
Remove Ra2 Shadow: RA2 units have their shadows in the same frame than the unit (using the colour #12). This caused the cameo generator to get some bad results. In order to avoid the shadows, it's recommended to use this option of your unit has shadow in the first frames.
Use selected area only: Probably one of the big things in this cameo generator is that you can make cameos from the selected area of the SHP (determined by the selection tool). This is why the bomb above looks so cool, because it wasnt made from the full picture. To use this feature, you must have something selected before opening the cameo generator.
Generate Cameo At:
the Current File: The cameo is generated in the file that is already opened and is currently active. It only generates the cameo there if your file has 1 frame and width of 64 or 60 and height of 48.
Note: In the screenie above it's written "the Current Frame". I've changed it to current file because if the file has more than one frame, this option isn't available.
New Window: This option generates the cameo in a new SHP.
BackGround (all pixels with colour #0):
User Custom Bitmap: You can put a background with a image made by you or that already comes with the program. It also accepts and loads fine the JPEG (jpg) files. It does accepts PCX files, but doesnt preview them. (Some PCX files might not load properly. So, if you have a pcx, convert it to bmp ).
Specific Palette Colour: You can make the background be replaced by another palette colour.
Don't touch it: Use this one if you already have a cameo almost done that just need the final touches .
Cool stuff, isnt it? Have fun!
