Alright, after seeing a post on Afterglow, I got to thinking about Mines.

Have any of you made some in your mods? If so How?

My thoughts on mines in general:
-sight range, they shouldnt be used as pickets, its just a bomb in the grass, though since I play with fog of war, perhaps a 1 square sight would be fine, to see the mine its self, not the targets.
-cloakable... well you should be able to hide them, though Id sugjest manualy setting the cloak speed controlls in the mines entry, just so the cloak/decloak rate isnt the same as the stealth tank, diferent sound too...
-must be one shot weapons, destroying themselves, or able to be reloaded manualy...

I have a conseptual "Bouncing Betty" effect. The mine its self has a very low strength, something like '1'. It has a single weapon, that we will call "claymore". "claymore" uses a canister or missile graphic and airbursts; It's airburst projectiles are 20 invisible flight to target warheads, like any infantry rifle.
The mine its self, a building, has a fire angle of '60' or whatever the vertical value is, the desired effect is for the cannister to be fired strait up over the mine. It has a guard range of say one square.
So, when an infantryman or tank rolls into that 1 square halo, the mine will fire "claymore" which will ascend verticaly to the airburst altitude then explode. That explosion will destroy the mine its self, with no armor and only '1' point of strength. Further, the 20 "shrapnel" submunitions will spread out and raise hell with the locals... what do you think?

That would be really cool but how do you plan on laying them, like obviously tou dont want to be confined to building them in base since that'd screw you more than them.

Well, you just set the build range to something like 20 as oposed to the typical 2-4, a reasonable distance from a base, but not so far as to make them an effective offensive weapon, ie: building close to the enemy base and plopping down mines right outside his barracks...

So in short, they are buildings... large build range from other buildings but may not be built off themselves...
