So, you thought the previous news was an April Fools joke, right? I admit that I wrote it in a format that would target your April Fools sensors with expressions like OS ZIP Editor. If you thought it was a joke, your thoughts have pranked on you! The news is real! And the OS .BIG Month is just starting with ZIP support. And now, we have an additional good news about it:

The version 0.588 has been released with improved support for the AES encryption used on the .MEG files from Petroglyph, especially on config.meg of some of their games, including the recently released 9-Bit Armies. I know that this change was not exactly on our roadmap, but sometimes, we need to take good opportunities to improve key parts of the program. A big thanks to Mike.nl for the tips on how to catch these AES keys.

And with that, we can start modding 9-Bit Armies! All you need to do is to look for some .XML files inside XML/OBJECTS. Look for the directories UNITS, STRUCTURES, although there are so many things to customize there.

Remember, however, that once you are satisfied, you must save your changes in another .MEG file, since mods must not replace config.meg and OS .BIG Editor does not save encrypted .MEG files. List your .meg file in megafiles.xml from your mod, in order to make the game read it. And have fun!

For further information about OS BIG Editor, visit Open Source .BIG Editor Official section at Project Perfect Mod to download its latest version. Use our Community Tools Forum for support. The source code is available at PPM's SVN. You can fork it on Git Hub and anywhere else if you want. Post your feedback in the replies to help us to improve the program. And stay tuned on the OS .BIG Month is just getting started at PPM for further updates on Open Source .BIG Editor!
